All ACMC members, no matter their standing, will obey these rules:
Members will ride in a courteous manner, showing respect for other road users and refrain from altercations whenever possible.

It is the responsibility of members to insure their capacity to ride is not impaired by alcohol or other influences. In the interest of the welfare of the rider and the Group, the Sgt. At Arms or his appointed representative is empowered to ban a member from joining a ride if he feels that a member’s capacity to ride safely has been impaired.
On Group rides, bikes must be roadworthy, gassed up and ready to ride. Riders should assemble for a briefing by the Road Captain or appropriate officer, at least five minutes prior to take off time at which time ride details will be given including route map, contact numbers, scheduled stops, etc… It is understood that the Road Captain will provide ample information on the ride at least one week prior to departure. Further, Road Captain in consultation with the Executive Committee will have the final say as to a bikes road worthiness is in question.
On group rides, members should maintain position and avoid overtaking other bikes whenever possible. If necessary to overtake another bike, the passing bike must get acknowledgement from the bike being passed.
Riders should not overtake the lead bike. If the lead bike is accidently passed in traffic, the erring bike should slow down and allow the lead bike to pass and then safely rejoin the pack.
Members should be familiar with ACMC riding formations and hand signals. The road Captain is responsible for the leaflet showing the hand signals.
Recognizing different levels of riding ability and capacity of bikes, member should ride within their comfort zone. Lead bike and Tail Gunner will endeavor to set the pace appropriate to traffic and road conditions.
Group riding is to be enjoyed by all and is not a race. Members should stay together as a group to insure visibility, safety and enjoyment. Members should adopt the “Buddy system” by keeping a close watch on the bike directly in front and the bike directly to the back, watching for problems, rider fatigue, etc…
In the event of an accident, riders should stop as quickly and safely as possible while trying to assist any and all participants involved. All situations differ so common sense should be used by the first member at the scene. (direct traffic, assist fallen rider, clear the fallen bike, etc)
Guest riders are welcome but should be briefed by the Road Captain and introduced to the President, V.P., and the Sgt. At Arms. They should be positioned at the back of the pack.
The Club does not require helmets as the law does not require them in the state of Minnesota. But does encourage the use of DOT approved helmets. It is up to the each rider to insure that all laws applicable to the rider are followed including helmet laws of other states they might enter.
